The Kingdom of God today is under siege and few people are aware of this. Much of Christianity today is a farce, a big joke. I know my detractors will come down hard on me on this one, but I can assure you I will shoot them down before they get within a mile of where I am!
Church, let’s get serious! Did you ever notice what Hebrews 12:22-24 says? “But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.”
I would urge you to read that scripture again. Sometimes we read scripture on the run because we think we already know it. This does not allow the Holy Spirit to speak to us. Let us try and allow this one to sink in.
Did you see that word… “spirits” in “spirits of just men made perfect”? Yes, my friend, God opens the curtain for us to peek into His thoughts and His thoughts are clearly not our thoughts. His thoughts are not about the material or the physical. Here He is telling us exactly where His thoughts and His heart are! Here we see clearly that God is thinking about Heaven and the eternal life. And the writer of Hebrews tells us that this is where we have come to. In other words, this is where God has brought us.
True, His thoughts are with mankind in the here and now but that is just for a moment. And one day He will not even think about mankind per se; that chapter will be closed.
Isn’t it a shame that much of His Church today is thinking about living a comfortable life in this world? A spiritual church, created for eternal life, thinking and talking and worrying about this temporal life! Through things like those we see on “Seconds from Disaster” God sends a clear message, probably not to the world, but to the Church.
It is clear also from the above scripture that God is all about something called the Church. Yes, He loves the world all right and He is still right here in this world, but at the end of the day it will be like someone who went visiting and the time arrives when He has to go home; He picks up His family (the Church) and says goodbye to His hosts (the world) “it’s been nice having you guys”, and off He goes back to His own country.
Never to return.
Let us not confuse the issue, Church. As I said at the beginning, enjoy this life if you can. But I can assure you God’s heart is not on these things.
We are spiritual, born of the Spirit of God. Let us not confuse ourselves with what is born of the flesh.
